I WAS HERE

contemporary art photography

This series is about mark-making. It documents the marks made by humans upon the land: trails and traces, wounds, piercings, scars, and graffiti.

“I spent an introspective two months here at Quincy Quarries getting to know the landscape intimately. During this time I also felt the need to leave my mark, not by anonymous spray paint phrases, but by interacting with the space around me and recording it on film.

I WAS HERE.”

The photos were taken with a 4 x 5 inch view camera, and the negatives were then scanned, processed, and printed digitally.
